A Letter to Joseph Anderson & Daniel Smith, Senators, 12 November 1807
This letter is a governmental business letter from Sevier, the Governor of Tennessee, to two Senators to take action on the completion of roads from Tennessee to Alabama. |
|
To Joseph Anderson & Daniel Smith, Senators, 12 November 1807:
 |
Knoxville 12th Nov. 1807.
Gentlemen
Enclosed you will receive "an Act for the appointment of Commissioners to view mark and survey certain Roads Herein Mentioned." The act directs the Executive to communicate to the President and request permission to open the Roads beyond the limits of our state. The act on perusal will manifest its objects to you, and I entertain no doubt you will proceed in the most early manner to obtain from the president, whatever may be necessary to make in to carry the same into effect. It must be obvious, that should a collision take place between the United States and any foreign nation, that a Road leading from Tennessee to Mobile, will be of great importance - It is nice to state, that the Roads have been lain off so far as our limits allow.
I have the honor to be, with high respect & esteem, Your m.º ob. Hbl [most obedient humble] Servant.
John Sevier
The Honorable, Jos. [Joseph] Anderson & Daniel Smith, Senators in Congress -
