Images of America:  Madison Parish  by Richard P. Sevier

Richard P. Sevier is a past contributor to JohnSevier.com. He allowed us to republish an interesting biography and tribute to his father, William Putnam "Buck" Sevier, Jr. (1899-1985). Buck was a banker, Alderman, and Mayor of Tallulah, Madison Parish, Louisiana.

Dick Sevier's new book is a photo history of Madison Parish -- which probably has more Seviers buried in it than any other parish (county) in the US. There are several Seviers pictured and mentioned in the book.

Arcadia Publishing Company’s Images of America series now includes a photographic history of Madison Parish. Released on April 15, this book includes historical data, drawings, graphs, maps and photos of the Madison Parish area relative to the years 1800-1927. The book is divided into five chapters that document the Early 1800’s, Civil War, Reconstruction, Early 1900’s and 1927 flood.

The book is available at several locations in Tallulah, including Madison Historical Society’s Hermione Museum, as well as at major bookstores such as Barnes and Noble, Borders, Walden books and Books-A-Million. It is also available directly from Arcadia Publishing by toll-free phone (888-313-2665) and online at Arcadia Publishing, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.
